Abstract:

Specific binding was linear up to 3 mg of protein in the incubation tube. Melatonin binding was pH-dependent the maximum being observed at pH 7.4. By adding 6 mM Ca++ to the buffer a 2-fold increase of specific binding was observed. Scatchard analysis revealed a population of high affinity binding sites with a Kd=(1.2±0.4)x10-8 M in 3 successive experiments.
