Abstract:
In this paper a study on the backscattering coefficient measured by SARAT (CONAE) and by UAVSAR (NASA/JPL) over agricultural bare soils is shown. Two electromagnetic models are assessed on this dataset: the IEM2M (Integral Equation Model for second-order Multiple scattering) and the semi-empirical Oh model. Results shown that IEM2M overestimated backscattering coefficient measurements, whereas Oh model fitted better. An inter-calibration between SARAT and UAVSAR over forests is also performed, which yielded a systematic difference of about 2 dB for all the polarimetric channels (HH, HV and VV), with the UAVSAR measurements above those of SARAT. © 2016 IEEE.
