Abstract:

Different species of the exotic plant Tamarix have been registered as colonizing natural and semi-natural environments in many provinces of Argentina. Nevertheless, the genus has not been cited for Tucumán or Santiago del Estero provinces, and not even for the Western Chaco dry forest ecoregion. The present work records the presence of Tamarix in riparian zones situated in different basins of Western Chaco ecoregion, namely in Tucumán and Santiago del Estero provinces, as well as the establishment of a T. ramosissima population in the Salí River basin in Tucumán. © Pero.
