Abstract:
We put forward an alternative mechanism to understand the physics underlying the electron emission and exciton formation occurring during grazing collision of neutral hydrogen on LiF(001) surfaces. Instead of visualizing the negative ion formation as the precursor, we propose the formation of excited H(n=2) as a catalyzer to produce excitons and electrons. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
