Abstract:

The title compound, [Dy2(C4H5O 2)6(C12H8N2) 2]·H2O, crystallizes as dimeric units with an inversion center. Each Dy atom is nine-coordinate, by seven O atoms from trans-2-butenoate groups and two N atoms from a phenanthroline molecule. The dimer is quadruply bridged by trans-2-butenoates (two η1: η1:μ2 and two η1:η1: μ2 bridges). The intradimer Dy⋯Dy separation is 3.9003 (5) Å. © 2003 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.
