Abstract:
The disassembly of nuclei in heavy-ion collisions could be the result of a liquid-gas phase transition. As critical phenomena in finite systems are not well understood, we investigate the role of the mass yield as a possible signature of this effect. We do this by studying the rupture of excited finite systems using molecular dynamics experiments. In particular, we explore the applicability of the drop-size power law for different system densities and temperatures.
