Abstract:

Field-distorted wave (FDW) approximations were used for investigating the angle and energy distributions of electrons emitted during the grazing scattering of fast protons on an aluminum surface. The method was found to be consistent to deal with the electron emission from metal surfaces. Atomic inner shells and valence band, which were considered as the contributions coming from the different electronic sources of the metal, were calculated as a function of the angle of electron emission. It was found that the influence of the surface interaction on ionized electrons diminished rapidly as emission angle was separated from the forward direction and the induced field accelerated convoy electrons.
