Abstract:

The nonlinear excitation effects for fast ion penetrating a free-electron gas were studied. The aim was to replace the undistorted plane waves leading to the Lindhard dielectric response function by Coulomb waves with an effective charge. It was found that an increase in the projectile charge increased the binary peak and the plasmon peak.
