Abstract:
The surface dielectric response of a free-electron gas to a projectile moving parallel to the surface was discussed. The specular reflection, the parallel dispersion and the axial model were investigated. The mean-free path, the stopping, the straggling and the self-induced potential at the projectile position were found to be calculated in term of the distance of the projectile to the surface. The analysis showed that the axial model was reliable and it permitted to estimate the binary contribution.
