Abstract:

The ℓ-wave Jost function for the polarization potential was evaluated and its effective range expansion for ℓ = 0 up to the order k4 was calculated. The validity domain of the expansion for the interaction of an electron with a Helium atom in its three He states was discussed. A method was also proposed for the prospective measurement of the scattering lengths and polarizabilities of neutral atoms.
