Abstract:

Labelled 3ß-hydroxy-5ß-pregnan-20-one was incorporated by Digitalis purpurea plants into digitoxin while 3ß-hydroxy-5ß-pregn-8(14)-en-20-one was not. This result excluded the interm ediary role of the latter compound as precursor of cardenolides in the mentioned plant. © 1987, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
