Abstract:

The caloric curve of nuclear matter has been experimentally studied using the molecular dynamics model LATINO. Nuclear collisions have been simulated to study possible phase changes using particles interacting by means of Yukawa potentials, aggregates are constructed and used in the collisions. In the collisions, the fragmentation of the system can be observed as well as the distribution of fragments characteristic of phase changes. Calculating the energy and temperature of the fragmented systems, it is possible to determine the caloric curve. In the study of these curves, three stages are observed: thermalization, formation of intermediate fragments and evaporation of the largest fragment. In these stages, the caloric curves show different characteristics, all of which have been observed experimentally. It is concluded that simulation gives results according to experimental observation.
