Abstract:

A study is made concerning the effects induced by applying the schematic model, within the framework of the quasiparticle random phase approximation, to the description of collective vibrational states in deformed heavy nuclei. A very simple interaction is introduced which allows one to analyze these effects independently of the particle basis involved. It is shown that schematicity results in a great enhancement of collective transition rates, but that the energetic trend in the rare-earth and transuranic regions is not appreciably affected. © 1972.
