Abstract:

Ultrastructure of resin secretory cavity in leaves of Cupressus arizonica var. glabra (Sudw.) Little, was studied. Possible sites of resin synthesis and mechanism of its elimination from the protoplast were analyzed. It is suggested that different organelles are involved in resin synthesis. Osmiophilic droplets of different size were observed in plastids, mitochondria, nucleus and cytoplasm. Electron microscopy observation suggested that resin elimination from the protoplast occurs by exocytosis.
