The biological properties of antibodies of the hyperimmune serum of guinea pigs immunised with foot and mouth disease virus was studied. The objective was an assessment of the biological properties of the different fractions in order to select the suitable hyperimmune serum. The tests used were IPR, IN 80 and FC 50. No correlation was found between protein concentration and the recovery of the biological activity of the antibodies in the three groups assessed. As a result it is concluded that antibody quality depends on type and is independent of protein concentration.
