Hemoglobin A(1c) is increased in patients with diabetes mellitus. An improved, specific, simple and highly sensitive method for the determination of HbA(1c) is described. Chromatographic separation of the different types of glycosylated hemoglobins from HbA''0 using cation-exchange resin in specific conditions of pH, temperature, load and columns is presented. Values of HbA(1c) in normal individuals in diabetic patients are given.
