Abstract:
1. 1. The free sterols of the starfish Comasterias lurida were isolated and characterized by means of gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques on free compounds and also on their acetylated and trimethylsilylated derivatives. 2. 2. The mixture contains Δ7 mono- and diunsaturated C27 and C28 derivatives as the major components besides minor quantities of C26 and C29 compounds. 3. 3. Asterosterol and amurasterol are also present in the mixture. © 1985.
