Abstract:
We report studies of adsorption of helium in translationally invariant polygonal pores at zero temperature, with emphasis on the route to capillary condensation and the appearance of metastable states. We analyze hysteresis and hysterectic-like phenomena associated to the existence of multiple equilibrium states in a rhombic pore and examine the effects of the angular geometry, as opposed to the smooth curvature of cylindrical tubes. © 2008 World Scientific Publishing Company.
