Abstract:
Lead determinations in biological samples by atomic absorption techniques generally require adequate sample pretreatments in order to cleave the metal binding to the organic matrix. Short irradiation of in vivo contaminated whole blood by means of a high-pressure UV-lamp is presented as an efficient method for lead-liberating hemolysis. The recovery rates currently obtained herewith are equivalent to those found using oxidative digestion in wet medium and superior to those following Triton TX-100 procedures, as shown using blood from in vivo contaminated rats. © 1983.
