The development of the microsporangium, microsporogenesis, and microgametogenesis of Myosotis azorica and M. laxa (Boraginaceae) was studied. The development of the anthers follows the Reduced type. The tapetum is of the secretory type and its cells are uninucleate. A tapetal membrane with Übisch bodies is formed and persists until the opening of the anther. The microspore tetrads are tetrahedral. The pollen grain is 8-aperturate, 6-heterocolpate with 2 polar apertures and is shed at the 3-celled stage. In the mature pollen grain, numerous p-particles along with some mitochondria are observed in the areas next to the pores of the vegetative cell cytoplasm.
