Abstract:
Evidence for the abrupt rise of the recoil-ion longitudinal momentum distribution linked to the electron capture to the continuum (ECC) is presented. At very small scattering angles, capture to projectile states of n ≥ 2 and ionizing collision leading to ECC show the same cross section per ion momentum phase space and the same transverse momentum exchange high-lighting a smooth transition from capture to ionization in ion atom collisions.
