Abstract:
Electron capture cross sections from excited states H(2s) and H(2p) by collisions with H+, He2+ and Li3+ ions are calculated using the eikonal impulse and continuum-distorted-wave approximations at moderate and high impact velocities. Our results are compared with other theoretical methods. A scaling rule in terms of the projectile charge is presented for partial cross sections.
