Abstract:

A generalization for uniaxial media of the reciprocity theorem was derived and symmetry properties for co-polarized and cross-polarized reflected power efficiencies was formulated. The symmetry properties were derived for ordinary and extraordinary incident waves diffracted from a periodically corrugated boundary that separated uniaxial medium from a perfect conductor. The validity of the reciprocity relations was proved for arbitrary orientations of the optic axis of the crystal and for an arbitrary shape of the grating.
