Abstract:

The use of the plate diagram in the calculus of aberrations of off-axis systems was found to be restricted to small off-axis angles. Only in some particular cases is it possible to obtain valid partial results for grate angles. But all aberration terms proportional to the fourth order of the aperture, field and off-axis angles are not valid results of the plate diagram. © 1978 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
