In the isolated rat tail artery preloaded with 3H-noradrenaline, neither acetylsalicyclic acid nor indomethacin modified the tritium release evoked by the Black Widow spider venom gland extract (BWGE), whereas clonidine diminished this effect of the venom. The data suggest that the BWGE process may operate in parallel with the prostaglandin mechanism and in series with the NA-mediated feed back pathway. It can not be excluded a prostaglandin interaction on the release process at a step prior to the point at which the venom acts. © 1980.
