A theoretical treatment is worked out to obtain potential as a function of time, for a membrane containing an ionic pump, when the rate of pumping is changed. Constant field assumptions are accepted and the possibility of a linkage between two pumped fluxes of opposite direction is considered. An integro-differential system of equations is obtained which would represent the behaviour of the membrane. A group of curves is shown for different values of the parameters. © 1965.
