Abstract:
A formalism was developed to calculate the first, second and third order pressure derivatives of the static dielectric constant for ionic crystals with Nacl or CsCl-type crystal structures within the framework of the exchange charge model. This enables us to propose theoretical values for the second and third order pressure derivatives for those salts whose experimental values are not available. The importance of van der Waals interactions was also studied. © 1992.
