Abstract:

As an aid to the structural determination of naturally methylated galactans, the separation and identification by capillary gas chromatography and the mass spectral features of ethylated galactoses as their aldononitrile and alditol acetate derivatives are presented and compared with those of their methylated counterparts. Data for some ethylated mono-O-methylgalactose derivatives are also included. © 1994.
