Effectiveness factors are computed for a second order reaction of the type A + B ⇌ R + S for both irreversible and reversible cases. The influence of different reactant diffusivities, of a nonstoichiometric relationship of reactant concentration, and of equilibrium constant upon effectiveness factor are analyzed. Computed results are compared with those from analytic asymptotic solutions. © 1966.
