Abstract:
We prove, for a Lagrangian density L(gij;Aiαi;Aijα), that the gauge invariance of the Euler-Lagrange expressions Eαi(L) implies the existence of a gauge-invariant scalar density L1, such that Eαi(L) =Eαi(L1). We then prove the uniqueness of the Yang-Mills field equations. © 1992 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
