Abstract:

1. 1. Solid support systems (beaded agarose) have been used in the study of porphyrin biosynthesis. 2. 2. Succinyl CoA synthetase, aminolaevulinate synthetase, and aminolaevulinate dehydratase have been studied in this manner. 3. 3. The properties of the immobilized enzyme have been studied with regard to stability, repeated use, thermal stability, pH optima, etc. 4. 4. The system can be used to study reaction mechanisms, function of subunits of an oligomeric enzyme, and sequential metabolic reactions. © 1978.
