Abstract:
The conversion of [14C]-labeled glucosamine to [14C]-labeled insect chitin was inhibited by tunicamycin, a nucleoside antibiotic which specifically blocks the biosynthesis of dolichyl diphosphate N-Acetylglucosamine. A method of short-term culturing is described for the analysis of chitin and glyconjugates biosynthesis by epidermal tissue of Triatoma infestans. © 1982 Academic Press, Inc.
