Resumen:

El Payador Canela (Diglossa sittoides) se distribuye en Argentina en Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca y La Rioja, donde habita bosques montanos. Su biología reproductiva es prácticamente desconocida. En este trabajo se describe el sitio de nidificación, el nido y los pichones de esta especie. Se encontraron dos nidos con tres pichones cada uno en pastizales de altura en El Infiernillo (2800 msnm), 20 km al norte de Tafí del Valle, Tucumán. Los nidos estaban construidos con material del pastizal y cerdas de caballo, tenían forma de taza y estaban ubicados cerca del suelo. Se registró que ambos padres alimentaban a los pichones.

Abstract:

The Rusty Flower-Piercer (Diglossa sittoides) is distributed in Argentina in Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca and La Rioja, where it inhabits montane forests. The reproductive biology of the species is virtually unknown. Nest site, nest and nestlings of this species are described. Two nests with three nestlings each were found in grasslands in El Infiernillo (2800 masl), 20 km north of Tafí del Valle, Tucumán. The cup-shaped nests were constructed with material from the grassland and horse-bristles, and were located near the ground. Both parents were recorded feeding the nestlings.
