A new anseriform from tertiary marine sediments of Chubut, Argentina. A new genus and species of an anseriform from the family Anatidae -Cayaoa bruneti - is here described. The subfamiliar or tribal relationships of this species are uncertain, but it appears to have a greater relationshipswith the Tachyerini. Other remains of similar stratigraphical origin (Patagonian Stage), assignable to the same genus, also are described.
