La construcción de la Represa Hidroeléctrica Yacyretá impactó de manera notable en los ecosistemas aledaños. Para mitigar estos efectos, la Entidad Binacional Yacyretá creó áreas protegidas, como la Reserva Natural Rincón de Santa María (RNRSM) y la Reserva Natural Mbaracayá (RNMb) en Ituzaingó, Corrientes, Argentina. La RNRSM alberga bosques secundarios en restauración y pinares abandonados, mientras que la RNMb —más afectada por las obras de construcción de la represa— presenta vegetación secundaria en recuperación. El objetivo de este trabajo fue inventariar las especies de licófitos y helechos en ambas reservas, y evaluar la restauración de ambas áreas en base a la diversidad de estos grupos. Para ello, se realizaron 11 viajes de recolección, se revisaron especímenes del herbario CTES y se elaboró una clave dicotómica parad identificar los taxones registrados. Se documentaron 16 familias, 27 géneros y 35 taxones infragenéricos. La diversidad de taxones infragenéricos por familia se distribuyó de la siguiente manera: Pteridaceae (6 taxones infragenéricos), Polypodiaceae y Thelypteridaceae (4 cada una), Blechnaceae y Salviniaceae (3 cada una), Anemiaceae, Cyatheaceae, Gleicheniaceae y Ophioglossaceae (2 cada una), mientras que Dennstaedtiaceae, Equisetaceae, Isoetaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Lygodiaceae, Osmundaceae, Psilotaceae, registraron un único taxón. Ambas reservas contienen 22 especies y comparten 9 de ellas. Se documentaron especies raras para la Argentina, como Dicranopteris flexuosa y Sticherus lanuginosus. Además, se registraron Cyathea delgadii, clasificada como en Peligro Crítico (CR), e Isoetes gardneriana, considerada en Peligro (EN) según los criterios de la IUCN. Ambas especies fueron registradas solo en la RNMb. Este estudio añade 9 especies al inventario de la RNRSM y es el primer relevamiento publicado de la RNMb. Las acciones de restauración y el cese de actividades humanas favorecieron la regeneración natural. Se destaca la importancia de estas áreas para la conservación
The construction of the Yacyretá Hydroelectric Dam altered the surrounding ecosystems. To mitigate these effects, the Yacyretá Binational Entity created protected areas, such as the Reserva Natural Rincón de Santa María (RNRSM) and the Reserva Natural Mbaracayá (RNMb) in Ituzaingó, Corrientes, Argentina. The RNRSM contains secondary forests undergoing restoration and abandoned pine plantations, whereas the more affected RNMb hosts recovering secondary vegetation. The objective of this work was to inventory the species of lycophytes and ferns in both reserves and to evaluate the restoration of both areas based on the diversity of these groups. For this purpose, 11 collection trips were made, specimens from the CTES herbarium were reviewed and a dichotomous key was elaborated to identify the taxa recorded. Sixteen families, 27 genera and 35 infrageneric taxa were documented. The diversity of infrageneric taxa per family was distributed as follows: Pteridaceae (6 taxa), Polypodiaceae and Thelypteridaceae (4 each), Blechnaceae and Salviniaceae (3 each), Anemiaceae, Cyatheaceae, Gleicheniaceae, and Ophioglossaceae (2 each), while Dennstaedtiaceae, Equisetaceae, Isoetaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Lygodiaceae, Osmundaceae, and Psilotaceae recorded a single taxon. A total of 22 species were recorded in each reserve, with 9 species shared between them. Noteworthy records include Dicranopteris flexuosa and Sticherus lanuginosus, both considered rare in Argentina. Also, two species are of high conservation value: Cyathea delgadii, classified as Critically Endangered (CR), and Isoetes gardneriana, considered Endangered (EN) according to the IUCN criterion. Both were recorded only in the RNMb. This study adds nine species to the RNRSM inventory and is the first published survey of the RNMb. The cessation of human activities and ongoing restoration efforts have promoted natural regeneration, reinforcing the conservation value of these areas
