Resumen:

En este trabajo se propone utilizar el método de elementos finitos para resolver las ecuaciones que permiten una descripción a principios de sistemas multi--electrónicos dentro del formalismo de Kohn-Sham de la teoría del funcional densidad (DFT, en inglés). Sobre la base de funciones estrictamente locales en el espacio real para representar el dominio. El mismo esquema se aplica a la resolución de la ecuación de Poisson. Utilizando una regla de integración abierta, se obtiene una matriz de masa diagonal, lo que reduce el problema generalizado de autovalores a uno simple. El tratamiento numérico propuesto fue implementado como una herramienta de cálculo, cuyo desarrllo fue dirigido especialmente a un entorno de computación de alto rendimiento, obteniendo como resultado una muy buena performance

Abstract:

We present a numerical approach using the finite element method to the equation that allow to get a first principle description of multi-electronic systems within of DFT formalisms. A strictly local polynomial functions basis set is used in order to represent the entire real-space domain. The same schema is udes in the case of Hartree equation. Diagonal mass matrix is reached using an open integration rule, reducing the generalized eigenvalue problem to a single one. This framework of electronic structure calculation is embedded in high performance computing environment obtaining a very good parllel behavior
