Desarrollamos un experimento cognitivo con tareas para juzgar sobre relaciones entre vocales y segmentos de diferentes longitudes. Analizamos la correlación entre el tiempo de reacción y la magnitud de los estímulos estudiados. En un primer experimento la tarea es claramente independiente de la magnitud de los segmentos, o del orden de las vocales. Se ha reportado que, en experimentos similares con los dígitos, los resultados empíricos indican que los tiempos de reacción dependen de la magnitud del dígito, aunque la tarea no lo requiere. El segundo experimento fue diseñado para optimizar la resolución de la tarea por medio de la asociación entre el orden de la vocal y de la magnitud del segmento. En este caso estudiamos, además, la dependencia del tiempo de reacción con la "distancia" entre la orden de las vocales y de la longitud del segmento
