Resumen:

Presentamos un resonador inestable en anillo que se desempeña en forma semejante a un resonador inestable autofiltrante (SFUR). El resonador del tipo confocal utiliza dos aberturas ubicadas en los puntos focales. Una de ellas es el espejo de salida con una abertura más grande que la nominal y la otra filtra el haz con un iris de radio inferior al nominal. Con una elección adecuada de dichas aberturas es posible obtener sobre el espejo de salida un modo de diámetro superior al que se obtendría con un SFUR de la misma magnificación. Este resonador se ensayó en un låser de CO₂ TEA. Se midieron mayores diámetros del modo y energía de salida que los obtenidos con SFUR tradicional de la misma magnificación geométrica

Abstract:

We present an unstable ring resonator that performs similarly to an unstable self-filtering resonator. The resonator of the confocal type uses two apertures located at the focal points. One of them whose size is larger than the nominal value is the output coupler, an the other one is a spatial filter whose size is smaller than the nominal value. A proper choice of those apertures brings on the output coupler an expanded beam, larger than the mode obtained in a SFUR with the same magnification. The resonator was tested in a TEA CO₂ laser. We measured larger output beam diameter and output energy than the ones obtained in a conventional SFUR
